The highlights for this years E3 2019
All eyes were on MS to bring it to the floor for this years E3, since Sony opted out for having nothing to show. I personally felt it is a solid 7/10. Had a fantastic opportunity to really take it home. As usual, they fumbled it and left it to inside xbox to fill in the gaps.
So what were the highlights. An assortment of games that caught my attention. Also THAT Keanu moment was awesome.

Tales of arise, looks AWESOME!!!. Complete different art style. What made the main stay for the Tales of series, is the anime art. The combat mechanics looked pretty good too, according to Gematsu:
Dynamic Action – Dynamic Action RPG featuring an updated battle system that retains classic Tales of gameplay.
The story of two worlds will be very familiar to those that have played other entries in the series:
On the planet Dahna, reverence has always been given to Rena, the planet in the sky, as a land of the righteous and divine. Stories handed down for generations became truth and masked reality for the people of Dahna. For 300 years, Rena has ruled over Dahna, pillaging the planet of its resources and stripping people of their dignity and freedomTales of Arise / Gematsu
Whilst I’m not a fan of guilty crown. The main protag, uses something that is similar to what Shu does, pulls out a weapon from his friends. The main heroine of the series has some serious Lailah vibes. Her outfit and general look is very reminiscent.
I’m not going to cover much on this, amazing, beautiful game. Instead you can check out a post I did
However, the sad thing is. Instead of coming out this year. It’s been pushed back to Feb 11 2020. Yes, it has a release date. Am I sad that it’s been pushed back. Not really, surprised though.
Oh boy, are the older fans of this game are getting their knickers in a twist. Purely for the aesthetics reasons. How much of a cry baby are they. The video over at the Xbox channel, got one of the highest dislike ratio I’ve seen. Over 10k dislike. Anyway, enough about them.
It looks good. The art style work, I’ve never played any of the battle toads games; not naïve to anthropomorphic characters though. As these were pretty common during the 16bit era. Now the interesting thing, despite this being a Rare IP, it isn’t done by them. It’s done by another British studio called Dlala studios. With Rare assisting them with it.
After 7 years this game has finally hit the west. At the same time, unfortunately it’s only available for the USA. Yeah, that sucks however here’s hoping that this will hit Europe/world wide soon.
I have such fond memories of phantasy star online on the Dreamcast. I played the female Newman hunter – known in the series as HUnewarl. Now if you were to ask me what I would play now, it would be the ranger class. Male android.
And finally the one that got me the biggest hype.
YESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS. YESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS. YESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS. I CAN’T BELIEVE IT!!!!!!!!. My fav entry gets a remaster. I would have loved it, if it got the remake treatment. Yeah, so what if VII got a reveal too. The only good thing about that is how Aerith looks. Anyway, can’t believe it still. I’m so looking forward to it.
I personally thought it was an okay E3. Sure MS had to prove themselves, that they can bring the games, that the fans wanted. And they did bring the games, just not what the hardcore fans wanted.
The big issue that seemed to have plagued this E3, is CGI and no gameplay. In one way I can understand that. They don’t want leaks spoiling things. On the other, fans wanted something more than just seeing. They wanted to see what awaited them, and decide if they want to throw down their money on the games.
And that’s my highlights for E3. Can’t wait for next years one.
