Urgh, well me being me, pretty much left everything …late. Not only that, I’ve decided to skip a few episodes. So there will be a lot of “uh huh” and “eh”.
Ura sekai picnic – episode 11-12
A double episode. From what I’ve gleamed from 11 and 12. Toriko and Sorawo went to find and rescue some American soldiers that got stuck on the otherside. From what I can see, Sorawo has come in to her own, normally she is the more cautious one, she doesn’t want anyone else having Toriko either. Which is kind of funny, it turns out that both of the girls are similar, they felt alone. It is nice that the last episode comes full circle, back to when they first met in the other world – only they no longer feel alone this time. Them annoying Kozakura is pretty amusing. Normally I’d put bullet points, to highlight what I like in the episode. This will be different.
Otherside picnic left me with mixed feelings. The episodes I did watch really bounced around with pacing. Either I was left bored, to keeping my interesting. At its core the show is all about exploration and urban legends, I do feel the show did a poor job with the urban legends, it just skated over them. Some of them were really obscure, like the big heads in episode 3. I had to look it up to know what it was referencing at all. The biggest thing that kept me invested in otherside picnic, is the relationship between Toriko and Sorawo. I really like their chemistry. That was the most consistent thing. Would I recommend otherside picnic?, if not much else is catching your interest, then watch it as a side (pun intended) thing. Not a must.
Mushoku Tensei: Isekai Ittara Honki Dasu – episode 10-11
From the last two episodes, it looks like Rudy is on a quest to reunite Eris to her homeland and restore a superd warrior named Ruijerd. There seems to be a a massive incident that has caused a big commotion, that Paul (Rudy’s dad) has left to another country?. I don’t know, since I haven’t been keeping up with jobless. Since I’ve mentioned Eris and Ruijerd, it looks like Rudy has formed a party called Dead End with them. I’m confused as there seems to be a entity that can communicate with Rudy’s former soul. It looks like it’s instructing him or something. I do like the inner monologue of Rudy from his past self. Like above I’ll be closing out, rather using bullet points.
Jobless reincarnation does something really different as to what other isekai shows does. It takes a genuine NEET and has him actually learn things in the new world that he is reborn in to. Sure he is naturally over powered, and can run rings around the rest of the cast. The things that I really enjoyed from jobless, is the pacing it wasn’t too fast, although the two episodes covered did seem fast for me, again this is me skipping episodes so that can’t be helped. The other is the inner monologue of Rudy, its done well, explaining the thought process of adult Rudy on things. Not too keen on his perversion though. The casts had some decent screen time, their personality came through, which is good. It helped with the world building. I think the strongest thing jobless told me; if you get another chance at a life. Grab it with both hands, and don’t let your previous one hold you back. Would I recommend jobless as a watch?, yes I would.
Scribble down, and I’ll catch you on the next post!
